And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
