The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no Crookedness: 1 [He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward 2 Staying in it for ever; 3 Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": 4 No knowledge thereof have they, nor had their fathers. Odious is the word that cometh out of their mouths; they say not but a lie. 5 Haply thou art going to kill thyself over their footsteps, if they believe not in this discourse, out of sorrow. 6 Surely We have made all that is on the earth an embellishment for it in order to test people as to who of them is better in conduct. 7 and, verily, [in time] We shall reduce all that is on it to barren dust! 8 Or deemest thou that the People of the Cave and the Inscription are a wonder among Our portents? 9 When those youths took refuge in the cave, they prayed: "O our Sustainer! Bestow on us grace from Thyself, and endow us, whatever our [outward] condition, with consciousness of what is right!" 10 Then We smote their ears many years in the Cave. 11 and thereafter We revived them to find out which of the two parties could best calculate the length of their stay. 12
