'O Messengers, eat of the good things and do righteousness; surely I know the things you do. 51 And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). 52 But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its tenets. 53 But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time. 54 Deem they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We enlarge them. 55 We would hasten them on in every good? Nay, they do not understand. 56 Surely those who tremble in fear of their Lord 57 And those who believe in the revelations of their Lord, 58 And those who do not ascribe any partner to their Lord – 59 and those who give to others what has been bestowed upon them with their hearts trembling at the thought that they must return to their Lord; 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 We do not burden a soul beyond capacity, for We have a record that tells the truth. No wrong will be done to any one. 62 NAY, [as for those who have torn asunder the unity of faith] - their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this! But apart from that [breach of unity] they have [on their conscience even worse] deeds; and they will [continue to] commit them 63 Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice. 64 Do not cry out for help this day, for surely you shall not be helped by Us. 65 For when My revelations were read out to you, you turned back on your heels and fled 66 Insolently, treating them like tales told at night." 67 Why did they not think over the message? Or has something come to them which had not come to their fathers? 68 Or did they not recognise their apostle, and rejected him? 69 Or say they: "There is madness in him?" Nay, but he brought them the truth [i.e. "(A) Tauhid: Worshipping Allah Alone in all aspects (B) The Quran (C) The religion of Islam,"] but most of them (the disbelievers) are averse to the truth. 70 And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder. 71 Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance. 72 (Muhammad), you certainly have called them to the right path, 73 But those who do not believe in the Hereafter have indeed deviated from that path. 74 ۞ Though We had mercy on them and relieved them of the harm afflicting them, they still would wander blindly on in their contumacy. 75 And assuredly We took hold of them with the torment, yet they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they entreat. 76 Until when We have opened before them a door of severe punishment, immediately they will be therein in despair. 77
