The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
