The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
