And assuredly We delivered the Children of Isra'il from an ignominous torment 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Yet these say: 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners? 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 save him upon whom God has mercy; He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 42
