The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and he belied the finest 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
