AND CALL to mind, through this divine writ, Abraham. Behold, he was a man of truth, [already] a prophet 41 He said to his father, "Why do you worship something that can neither hear nor see nor benefit you in any way? 42 Father, I have been given some knowledge which has not come to you, so follow me: I shall guide you along a straight path. 43 Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful. 44 “O my father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Gracious may reach you, so you would become a companion of the devil.” 45 He said: Rejectest thou my gods, O Abraham? If thou cease not, I shall surely stone thee. Depart from me a long while! 46 Abraham said: "Peace be on thee: I will pray to my Lord for thy forgiveness: for He is to me Most Gracious. 47 Now I will go away from you and that you call upon, other than Allah. I will call on my Lord. Perhaps I shall not be unblessed in calling my Lord' 48 Thereupon Abraham dissociated himself from his people and the deities they worshipped instead of Allah, and We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob and made each of them a Prophet; 49 And We bestowed of Our Mercy on them, and We granted them lofty honour on the tongue of truth. 50
