The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers. 1 who in their prayers are humble 2 and who turn away from all that is frivolous, 3 And who are givers of poor-rate, 4 And they who guard their private parts 5 except with their spouses and slave-girls. The practice of carnal relations is lawful with them. 6 But whoso craveth beyond that, such are transgressors - 7 Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants; 8 And who (strictly) guard their prayers;- 9 These are indeed the inheritors. 10 Who shall inherit the Firdaus (Paradise). They shall dwell therein forever. 11 And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth). 12 Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge) (and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman). 13 Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators. 14 Thereafter you are destined to die, 15 then on the Day of Resurrection you shall surely be raised up. 16 And We created above you seven ways, and We were not heedless of creation. 17 And We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease). 18 Then We produce for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you and whereof ye eat; 19 And also a tree that springeth forth from mount Sinai, that groweth oil and is a sauce for the eaters. 20 And behold, in the cattle [too] there is indeed a lesson for you: We give you to drink of that [milk] which is within their bellies; and you derive many [other] uses from them: for, you eat of their flesh, 21 You are carried by the animals on land and by the ships in the sea. 22
