S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. 1 But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. 2 How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape! 3 It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". 4 What! makes he the gods a single Allah? A strange thing is this, to be sure! 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). 10 A very host of parties is routed there! 11 Before them (were many who) belied Messengers, the people of Nuh (Noah); and 'Ad; and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes (with which he used to punish the people), 12 And [the tribe of] Thamud and the people of Lot and the companions of the thicket. Those are the companies. 13 There was not one but belied the apostles, wherefore justified was My wrath. 14
