Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection]. 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 and calf is inter-twined with calf. 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
