The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 [whereas,] behold, the truly virtuous shall drink from a cup flavoured with the calyx of sweet-smelling flowers: 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
