The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
