Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets set, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
