Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me). 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 (Sarah) his wife came with an exclamation and clasped her face, and said: 'Surely, I am a barren old woman' 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 but We found only one Muslim house. 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 And in Moosa, when We sent him with a clear proof towards Firaun. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate. 40 And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind; 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 for they were unable even to rise, and could not defend themselves. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
