Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say, (O Prophet), it was revealed to me that a band of jinn attentively listened to (the recitation of the Qur'an) and then (went back to their people) and said: “We have indeed heard a wonderful Qur'an" 1 Guiding to the right way, so we believe in it, and we will not set up any one with our Lord: 2 ‘And that our Lord’s Majesty is Supreme – He has neither chosen a wife nor a child.’ 3 and that “the foolish among us have been wont to say outrageous things about Allah”; 4 We had supposed that men and jinn would never utter a lie against God. 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 And indeed they supposed, even as ye suppose, that Allah would not raise anyone (from the dead) - 7 and that “we tried to pry (the secrets of) the heaven, but we found it full of terrible guards and shooting meteors”; 8 And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; 9 We do not know whether by this arrangement God intends benefit and guidance for the people of the earth or only evil. 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 So when we heard the guidance we believed in it; and he who believes in his Lord will neither fear loss nor force. 13 And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; 14 ‘And as for the unjust – they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, 16 that We might try them therein. And whosoever turns away from the Remembrance of his Lord, He will thrust him into chastisement rigorous. 17 And the mosques are for Allah (Alone), so invoke not anyone along with Allah. 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
