The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 will be easy, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
