And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
