The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Successful indeed are the believers 1 those who are humble in their prayer; 2 who avoid whatever is vain and frivolous; 3 those who pay the zakat; 4 Who abstain from sex, 5 except with their spouses and slave-girls. The practice of carnal relations is lawful with them. 6 But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; 7 (Prosperous are those) who preserve their trusts and pledges 8 And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawat (prayers) (at their fixed stated hours). 9 These are indeed the inheritors. 10 These are the heirs of Paradise wherein they will live forever. 11 We have created the human being from an extract of clay 12 then We placed him as a drop of fluid in a safe place, 13 Then We fashioned the sperm into an embryo, then fashioned the embryo into a shapeless lump of flesh; then from the lump of flesh We fashioned bones, then clothed the bones with flesh. Thus We formed him into a new creation. So blessed be God the best of Creators. 14 Then after that you shall surely die, 15 then on the Day of Resurrection you shall surely be raised up. 16 And We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware. 17 We send down water from the sky in determined measure, and store it up in the earth; and We have power to drain it away. 18 We grow orchards of dates and grapes from it for you, Which yield fruits in abundance that you eat. 19 Also a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food. 20 And indeed there is also a lesson for you in cattle. We provide you with drink out of what they have in their bellies; and you have many other benefits in them: you eat of them, 21 and are carried on them and also on ships. 22
