The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
