Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And by oath of ten nights. 2 and the even and the odd, 3 and by the night when it departs. 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 (Muhammad), consider how your Lord dealt with the tribe of Ad, 6 The people of many-columned lram. 7 the like of which was never created in the countries? 8 And the tribe of Thamud, who hewed rocks in the valley. 9 and with Pharaoh of the stakes? 10 They were tyrants in the land 11 And multiplied iniquity therein? 12 So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment. 13 Indeed, your Lord is in observation. 14 Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me." 15 But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” 16 But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, 17 Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- 18 and you devour the inheritance with greed, 19 And you love wealth with exceeding love. 20 No indeed! When the earth is ground to powder, 21 when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him? 23 He will say: "Alas the woe! Would that I had sent ahead something in my life." 24 But on that day shall no one chastise with (anything like) His chastisement, 25 And no one binds like He does! 26 O the contented soul! 27 Return towards your Lord – you being pleased with Him, and He pleased with you! 28 Join My servants. 29 into My Paradise. 30
