When you set out at dawn from your home to assign battle positions to the believers -- God hears all and knows all. 121 When two of your bands were about to lose heart God befriended them; and in Him should the faithful place their trust. 122 and God most surely helped you at Badr, when you were utterly abject. So fear God, and haply you Will be thankful. 123 Remember thou saidst to the Faithful: "Is it not enough for you that Allah should help you with three thousand angels (Specially) sent down? 124 Nay, but if you are patient in adversity and conscious of Him, and the enemy should fall upon you of a sudden, your Sustainer will aid you with five thousand angels swooping down!" 125 God wrought this not, save as good tiding to you, and that your hearts might be at rest; help comes only from God the All-mighty, the All-wise; 126 So He may cut off a part of the disbelievers, or disgrace them so that they return unsuccessful. 127 This matter is not for you to decide – whether He guides them to repent or punishes them, for they are the unjust. 128 Unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. He forgiveth whom He will, and punisheth whom He will. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 129
