Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And recall when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 He said: So surely you are of the respited ones 37 until the day of a known time." 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 God said, "This is the path which leads straight to Me. 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them. 44
