Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 And those that bear the burden (of the rain) 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Woe to the liars 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 They ask, "When will the Day of Judgement come?" 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
