The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The people's day of reckoning is drawing closer, yet they are heedlessly neglectful. 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 their hearts being set on other concerns. The wrong-doers whisper to one another: "This person is no more than a mortal like yourselves. Will you, then, be enchanted by sorcery while you see?" 3 He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 The people of the town whom We had destroyed also had no faith. Will these people then believe in God? 6 Before thee, also, the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: If ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message. 7 And We did not make them bodies not eating the food, and they were not to abide (forever). 8 In the end We fulfilled to them Our Promise, and We saved them and those whom We pleased, but We destroyed those who transgressed beyond bounds. 9 Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? 10
