Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 upon your heart (Prophet Muhammad), in order to be one of the warners, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 This is (indicated) in the Books of earlier people. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?" 203 Do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 What do you see? If We gave them enjoyment for years, 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 verily, [even] from hearing it are they utterly debarred! 212 So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 So if they do not obey you, then say, “Indeed I am unconcerned with what you do.” 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Do you not see that they wander about bewildered in every valley? 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
