۞ And when the son of Mary is cited as an example, behold, thy people turn away from it 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 He ['Iesa (Jesus)] was not more than a slave. We granted Our Favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel (i.e. his creation without a father). 59 And had We so willed, [O you who worship angels,] We could indeed have made you into angels succeeding one another on earth! 60 Verily he (i.e., Jesus) is a portent of the Hour. So be in no doubt concerning it and follow Me. This is the Straight Way. 61 And let not the Satan hinder you; verily he is unto you an enemy manifest. 62 And when Jesus came with the clear signs he said, 'I have come to you with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you some of that whereon you are at variance; so fear you God and obey you me. 63 For God, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship Him: that is a straight path." 64 Then the factions fell apart among themselves. So woe to the wrong-doers from the chastisement of a grievous Day. 65 Are they merely waiting for the Hour, which will come upon them suddenly and take them unawares? 66 On that Day close friends shall become enemies of each other, except those who fear (Allah). 67
