Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 in a lofty garden, 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 Nor any food save filth 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
