The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
