He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fearfully, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
