The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
