The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
