(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
