The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
