He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 You pay full attention, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fearfully, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 with darkness overspread: 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
