The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
