The people of Al-Hijr denied Our apostles; 80 We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them. 81 notwithstanding that they had been wont [to enjoy Our blessings and] to hew out dwellings from the mountains, [wherein they could live] in security 82 But the shriek seized them at early morning. 83 So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn. 84 We have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between the two in accordance with the requirements of truth and wisdom. The Hour is surely coming. So overlook [their faults] with gracious forgiveness. 85 Indeed your Lord only is the Great Creator, the All Knowing. 86 And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathani (the seven repeatedly recited Verses), (i.e. Surat Al-Fatiha) and the Grand Quran. 87 Do not stretch your eyes to that We have given pairs of them to enjoy, nor sorrow for them, and lower your wing to the believers. 88 And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" - 89 even as We had sent warning to those who had divided their religion into fragments; 90 And severed their Scripture into fragments. 91 by your Lord, We shall question them all 92 for whatever they have done! 93 So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters. 94 Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers, 95 and believe other things to be equal to God. They will soon know the truth. 96 Indeed, We know your chest is straitened by that they say. 97 Proclaim thy Lord's praise, and be of those that bow, 98 and serve thy Lord, until the Certain comes to thee. 99
