Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 which carry clouds laden with water, 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 then by the distributors (angels), ordered; 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 your ideas are confused. 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. 14 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, 18 and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. 19 And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty, 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
