The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
