AND [remember] Noah - [how,] when He called out [unto Us,] long before [the time of Abraham and Lot,] We responded to him and saved him and his household from that awesome calamity; 76 We helped him against his people who rejected Our revelations. They were surely a wicked people, so We drowned them all. 77 And David and Solomon they passed judgment upon the tilled land on which the people's sheep had strayed. We bore witness to their judgment, and 78 So We made Sulaiman to understand it; and to each one We gave wisdom and knowledge; and We made the mountains, and the birds to celebrate Our praise with Dawood; and We were the doers. 79 And We taught him the making of coats of mail for you, that they might protect you in your wars; will you then be grateful? 80 We made subservient to Solomon the swift wind that blew on his command to the land in which We had sent blessings. We have the knowledge of all things. 81 We also subjected to him some of the jinn who dived for him in the sea and performed other tasks; We kept a watch over them. 82 ۞ AND [remember] Job, when he cried out to his Sustainer, "Affliction has befallen me: but Thou art the most merciful of the merciful!" 83 whereupon We responded unto him and removed all the affliction from which he suffered; and We gave him new offspring, doubling their number as an act of grace from Us, and as a reminder unto all who worship Us. 84 Remember Ishmael and Idris and Dhul Kifl: they were all patient and steadfast. 85 We admitted them to Our mercy. They were all righteous men. 86 Dhun Nun went away in anger and thought that We would never have power over him, but in darkness he cried, "Lord, You are the Only God whom I glorify. I have certainly done wrong to myself (so forgive me)". 87 We heard his prayer and saved him from grief. As such We shall save the believers. 88 And (remember) Zakariya, when he cried to his Lord: "O my Lord! leave me not without offspring, though thou art the best of inheritors." 89 We therefore heard his prayer; and bestowed him Yahya, and cured his wife for him; indeed they used to hasten to perform good deeds, and pray to Us with hope and fear; and used to weep before Us. 90 (Remember) her who preserved her chastity, into whom We breathed a new life from Us, and made her and her son a token for mankind. 91 People, you are one nation and I am your Lord. Worship Me. 92 And they broke their religion (into sects) between them: to Us shall all come back. 93
