The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
