The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
