Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the break of Day 1 by the Ten (secret) Nights, 2 by the even and the odd, 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Did you not see how did your Lord deal with (the tribe of) Aad? 6 of Iram, known for their lofty columns, 7 The like of which were not produced in (all) the land? 8 And with Thamud who carved rocks in the valley; 9 And with Fir'awn, owner of the stakes 10 Who terrorised the region, 11 and exceeded in corruption therein. 12 Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements: 13 Indeed, your Lord is in observation. 14 As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". 15 However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me". 16 Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans! 17 Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- 18 And ye devour inheritance - all with greed, 19 And you love wealth with much love! 20 Most certainly – when the earth is smashed and blown to bits. 21 And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank, 22 And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)? 23 He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!" 24 Then on that Day Allah will chastise as none other can chastise; 25 and none can bind with bonds like His. 26 O soul that art at rest! 27 return to your Lord well pleased with him and He will be pleased with you. 28 Join My worshipers and 29 Enter thou My Paradise!' 30
