The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
