The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
