The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Ta'. Sin. These are the verses of the Qur'an and a Clear Book; 1 A guidance and good tidings for believers 2 who are constant in prayer and spend in charity: for it is they, they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! 3 We make their deeds attractive to those who do not believe in the Hereafter, so that they may wander in perplexity. 4 Such are those for whom there is an evil punishment, and in the Everlasting Life are the greatest losers. 5 You have been conveyed the Qur'an from One all-wise and all-knowing. 6 (Recount to them) when Moses said to his family: "I perceive something like fire: soon will I bring to you some information from there, or I will bring you a burning brand that you may warm yourselves." 7 But when he came close to it, a call was sounded: "Blessed are all who are within [reach of] this fire, and all who are near it! And limitless in His glory is God, the Sustainer of all the worlds!" 8 O Moses, I am God, the Powerful, the Wise. 9 Throw down your staff." When he saw it wriggling like a serpent he turned his back and fled without turning (to look). "O Moses," (said the voice), "be not fearful. Surely those sent as messengers do not fear in My presence, 10 and neither need anyone who has done wrong and then has replaced the wrong with good: for, verily, I am much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace! 11 And put your hand into the opening of your garment [at the breast]; it will come out white without disease. [These are] among the nine signs [you will take] to Pharaoh and his people. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient." 12 When Our miracles were visibly shown to them, they said, "It is plain magic". 13 And they denied them, though their souls acknowledged them, for spite and arrogance. Then see the nature of the consequence for the wrong-doers! 14
