۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 on couches facing each other. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
