The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
