The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
