And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor a true friend; 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
